California College of Music is committed to protecting all user information that is collected through Facebook and Instagram campaigns. We ensure that the data we gather on these social media sites will be used only to the degree of what is listed on this document.
The Information Collected
In order to contact prospective students to help them with their individual musical goals, and guide them through from our application to matriculation process, we may ask that users provide personal information. It is important we are aware of all relevant information ranging from how much prior experience they have, what their future career plans are, their financial capabilities, etc. so that we can better serve their needs. The questions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Primary instrument and program the user is interested in
- Any additional voluntary information the user wants to
What We Do With the Information
Once we receive a prospective student’s personal information, the Administration Office takes all necessary precautions to ensure the security and safety of the data. Through the use of a shared private and secure network stored in our database, we organize, manage, and maintain records of each student.
The information collected will be categorized according to the status of the student. Their status depends on factors such as which quarter and program they’re interested in enrolling for, if they have been responsive to our emails, if they have submitted an online application, and if they cannot attend due to financial circumstances. All of the information gathered will be kept in our records unless the student expresses that they would like to be removed from our list.
By having all this data, we are able to assist students in a more personalized manner, and share advertising and promotional material from our college.
Facebook and Instagram Analytics
We use Facebook and Instagram analytics to record visitor impressions, reach, and clicks through sponsored advertisements. Information collected and processed by these social media analytics includes user impressions, reach, click-through rate, and geographic location, which is obtained by enabling cookies on your computer. California College of Music does not share any information collected by these analytics, nor do we collect any personal information such as social security numbers or financial information.
Controlling Your Personal Information
If you choose, you can opt out by turning off cookies through your individual browser options. By disabling your cookies, we won’t have access to the details of your browsing history on our sponsored Facebook ads.
If you’d like to change, update, or delete your information from our database, you may request to do so by contacting [email protected] and speak to one of our Admissions Representatives.
Prior to making any changes to this policy, we will make a public statement, likely through an email and through our official college website, notifying users about the change. We recommend that you periodically review our website and stay updated with your email inbox.
